Code Girls by Liza Mundy.
This book is focused to women that were Code Girls and contributed to America’s war and about their role, achievements, and how they were treated during WW2. During WW2, women had done a good job at breaking codes, but these days they are not mentioned as much as men. In this blog post, I’ll talk about 2 central ideas, argument, and cause and effect.
On this page, it states my first central idea of the Code Girls which was “During the World War 2, women were important but weren’t appreciated as men.” I thought like this because in the first part of the book, it’s key idea was about the Code Girls’ role and importance, but as it goes and goes, it always mentioned that “women were paid less than men” and “they were treated differently”. So, I thought that they were important, but they weren’t appreciated. And this is also connected to my argument.
On this page, my basic argument is “Women were the true heroes of WW2″ which looks like a theme, so I developed my argument which became ” Women were essential to America’s victory” that is more specific. The main thing in my argument is if women were or weren’t essential to America’s victory however, I thought that they were essential. In the book, Navy also said “we need women to win” which means that they were important to America. In addition, this argument may be related to my book’s theme which is women were the true heroes of WW2.
On this page, it says about the cause and effect of my book. I was surprised because I didn’t know that war can make a lot of effects. Since this book is focused on women and the process of their life, almost of the effects were connected to the change of the women’s life quality. Basically, the society of women changed a lot, which led to women becoming more independent, feminism’s start, and getting a specific role in war.
Finally, I made my final central idea of this book, which is “Women were the true heroes of WW2 and they were essential to America’s victory. But these days they are unmentioned.” My central idea has developed by getting more information from my argument and the cause/effect. I think that my central idea is the common part and adding that they were unmentioned. If I summarize my book, it is a story of women breaking the codes.
Thank you for reading my blog and I am sorry that I posted it late.
