The Undoubted Belief in Humankind

Humanism by Quincy Pedrick [STUDENT]

I am a Renaissance Humanist, as I believe in the pursuit of knowledge and in Mankind.  We as humans are better when we look to the past, to improve the present for a better future. I believe that learning from sources unfamiliar to us, even ones that are contradicting to our beliefs, can tell us a lot about our world. Whether it is learning fundamental English, or  subjects as poetry and history which are more focused on a deeper meaning, it is imperative that we seek things that interest us. Yet most of all i believe in humanity, and the beauty of it’s tainted purity, whether it is cruel or kind. Confidence in your self can take you to the stars, but confidence in humanity can take you past your wildest dreams, that and the pursuit of knowledge is why I am a Renaissance Humanist.

The Slaughter of the Lamb.

Found poem

My found poem in humanities is about the story “Lamb to the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl. The story is about the protagonist (Mary Maloney) and her external conflict with her husband, where he allegedly does something that infuriates her, tells her about it after a day at work, and gets murdered  with a leg of lamb by the protagonist. My poem shows how she killed him with the “she took his presence” line, and shows the usual relationship with the “darling, Darling, what is it darling whats the matter?”. The end shows the way she murdered him, and the image shows a leg of lamb and a woman shrouded in a mischievous darkness that represents the protagonist, Mary Maloney.
