I am making an app for a client. Below is my process journal for this experience. follow along and see how I create it.

Ideas into Design Concepts:

When I started this unit, I wanted to make a yin yang symbol for the work.  Because I thought this symbol was easy to draw and make. I also tried to make a symbol of drama, the mask, and black shaded human symbol, but it was too hard for me. I was not good at using Fusion 360. So, I just decided to use a yin yang symbol, that was easy and I though it will looks great. In a LightBurn, I also thought to make a yin part to scan. Although, I choose to cut, because I realized that scan will looks better, but the light can not get out. So, my final work finished with yin and yang symbol, without scan.

Growth in Skills: 

When I started the Fusion 360, it was easier than I thought. However, the hard part was making a bridge. I needed to think about where will cut out, and where we need a bridge. Also, using sketch was really challenging for me. When I was using the sketch, it was hard for me to put all the sketch into one sketch. However, all the tools were not only hard. Trim tool was useful and easy to use. It used in making bridge, checking the two line is connected, and when I cut the wrong one, it allowed me to undo it. When I thought I finished all the work in Fusion 360, and start the LightBurn, it was easy. However, when I import the DXF file into the LighBurn, it keep delete the one that I need, and put what I deleted. First, I thought that I made mistakes in Fusion, but I was a problem of LighBurn. So, I first used the tool called break.  But, it did not worked. So, I just copy and past in the LightBurn. It was not in the right place, but I had no choice.

Reflecting & Sharing:

1. The tips that I can give is to concentrate on the class. Using Fusion 360 and LightBurn is not an easy app like Garageband. So, is difficult. Do not talk during the class, and try to concentrate all the things what teacher is saying. If you miss something important, you will struggle in every classes catching up the missed part.
2.  If I can go back an do over the course again, I will ask teacher everythings I do not know. Instead of trying to solve by myself, sometimes it needs help from advanced person.
3.  I think we should drop using too hard apps like Fusion 360. Also, Downloading and using it requires too many times. I think we should keep the part using wood.  Using wood is easy and fun, because it is not too easy like cardboard and too hard metal.

Part 1

With my partner, we were thinking about food that has annoying problem, which were noodle, lasagna, dumpling and hamburger. Lasagna’s problem was ingredients keep falling down from the spoon and clothes and plate became messy. So, me and my partner thought if the spoon is deeper than other normal spoons, it may solve the problem. If the spoon is deeper, even though lasagna is high, it will able to contain them all without the ingredients falling down from the spoon. Noddle’s problem was it is hard to eat broth and noodle together. We thought if we can eat noodle with broth together, it will be more tasty and don’t need to use chopsticks and use spoon after. So, we thought combine fork and spoon (but fork spoon was already exists). Dumplings problem was that it is very slippery that it falls down from the chopsticks. So we thought that if the chopstick is including grippy part at the edge of the chopstick, so it can grip the dumpling better, it can solve the problem. The hamburger’s problem was that the sauce is dripping from the food and falls down to people’s hand and became dirty. So, me and my partner thought if there is paper around the hamburger, it will solve the problem, that the sauce will be keep in the paper, not in hand.

In the beginning we tried to make the whole chopstick with plastic and make the edge of the chopstick grippy, but sharp. But one wish told us that if the chopstick is all plastic and it is too sharp, the food will be broken when people use the chopsticks. So, me and my partner decided to make the grippy part with silicon and make less sharp to avoid the food being broken. Almost all the feedbacks were about neat diagram and more detail. But neat diagram and more detail were problems that will solve in the end of this unit, so we didn’t really used it to improve our utensil.

Part 3

This utensils weakness is there could be some people how don’t like the grippy edge when they are eating, because sometimes it can be stuck in your teeth and maybe some people doesn’t need to use the utensil. The strength of this utensil is that many people can use it in learning using chopsticks and when people are eating oily food, it is easier to grip the oily food. The utensil will be about 20 cm for length about 5 mm for height and about 5 mm for width. The utensil will be made by plastic and hard silicon at end. Plastic will be about 15 cm and silicon part will be about 5 cm at the end of the chopsticks.

My biggest success in design class was making teamwork, because we need to work with two people our team divided the work we need to do. This helps us to work together and improved the skill how to work together more efficiently. Also, success that made was experience. With this class, I get a plethora of experiences, which are  hard to have at other places.

One piece of advice I would give a future student doing this project is that don’t play too much for you project. Cardboard is easily get broken and durability is not so good. This means if you play too much at that game, it could be destroyed before the 4th grades come, or before some fun activity with the cardboard game. Also, you should say to people plays your game about don’t use too roughly.

One thing I ‘d like to change  is make defender without the tooth picker. When I made defender stand with tooth pickers, it keep makes hole at cardboard, and make looks not very good. So, I will make them stand with hot glue or other substances which is not tooth pickers.
