Inside the Lives of Immigrant Teens Working Dangerous Night Shifts in Suburban Factories by Melissa Sanchez – Finished

I have been reading non-fiction for the past 1-2 eight-day cycles, more specifically the articles published on ProPublica. This article was really interesting to me because it wrote about something that I did not really know about beforehand. It was really interesting for me to read because I got to learn about personal experiences about the situation, like Garcia, who had to work during the night to pay off debts and send money home to their family. Although I knew that child labor is an issue, I did not fully understand the scale of the issue, and how many people were being affected by this.

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (Page 78)

Due to the fact that I picked a book that was too challenging at first, I had to change my book in the middle of the cycle. Although this book is not a very hard read, I wanted to read it because it is such a classic that I missed out on. Although I am not deep in this book yet, I really like how the author used actions and stories to develop the different characters. The only part of the story so far, where Louisa May Alcott used direct characterization was to describe their appearances, after doing so, the author even wrote that “the characters of the four sisters were we will leave to be found out.” I really liked how she developed their personalities and their relationships (with each other as well as other characters) as the story progressed.

After I finish this book, which will most likely be this week or next week. I want to move onto some non-fiction books.
