The past two weeks…

I was unable to get enough content to write on my blog about our film process until this week, a lot of these two weeks has been scheduling the time for filming as well as starting to film. Although we only have two classes left until showing our horror short film, we still have about 2/3s of the movie that still needs to be filmed. It is because of the scheduling difficulties where our protagonist has commitments to his own film as well as our antagonist not being able to come to shooting due to church on Sunday (also me forgetting the costumes on Tuesday). It has caused a lot of problems for filming although it has given us time to think more about the movie, work on acting as well as organizing our files in our shared folder. Although our protagonist cannot be here for today’s lesson, we will try to get some b-roll that do not show the protagonist’s face. We also want to have continuity for this, so we need to make sure everything we show in the movie is exactly the same.

Formative Socratic Seminar Reflection

I did well to interpret what was not in the text, specifically the letter that Mary sends to Junior. Although I need to analyze more literary techniques like repetition, diction, metaphors, etc. I could also speak up a little louder and improve my speaking since I feel that I talked very slow and used too much of the word like.  My group was really good at having a very engaging and fast-paced conversation, it was really interesting to see where our opinions differed and were similar. We had a very long discussion over the first two questions (of the three we had chosen) and we ran out of time in the end so we did not get to the last one. My group was full of assertive and talkative people which made the discussion even better, although there were interruptions from time to time.

In the next Socratic seminar, I need to improve on being more aggressive, I had gotten interrupted many times and I need to learn how to stand my ground. I also need to ask more questions to the group as well as focus more on the literary techniques that are used in the text.
